The Wonder Drug for Long Life
If I told you I had a less expensive and non-invasive way to help combat arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, respiratory illnesses, and mortality compared to the cost and side effects of prescription drugs, would you want to listen? I think most people would definitely want to hear what I am about to say. The problem is that most people already know what the solution is to the health problems that plague our society… exercise!!
In case you didn’t already know, exercise has been shown to be as successful in treating many of the health problems in America as prescription drugs. A study that I recently read stated, “the evidence suggests that exercise and many drug interventions are often potentially similar in terms of their mortality benefits in the secondary prevention of coronary heart disease, rehabilitation after stroke, treatment of heart failure, and prevention of diabetes.”
The study, nor am I, suggesting that we replace and get rid of all drugs and just exercise. What the article is suggesting is that exercise should be a much more viable treatment method in everyone’s life. I believe that if we took our health more seriously and did some form of activity daily, that we as a society would probably not have the epidemic of health problems in America.
So now that we have heard it again, why is it so hard for us to change? Don’t believe the lie that it is too late! Don’t let yourself be deceived into thinking it is going to be too hard. How hard will life be when you have arthritis, cancer, or another health problem?
Find something that you have passion about, something that motivates you, and fix your mind to that! You don’t have to go to a gym. Find an activity you do enjoy. If you enjoy books, then get on a bike or treadmill and read it. If you enjoy baking, walk to the grocery store and get your groceries. Find your passion and get creative to implement exercise to that activity.
