I love November. Just anticipating Thanksgiving helps liven the month with a heightened thankfulness for family, friends, favorite fall foods, faith, and freedom. What a great time to appreciate fitness and good health…. and to re-commit to completing the
year with a pro-active plan to protect and promote our physical well-being. So, how can we handle Thanksgiving Day and its traditional food focus without over-indulging?
HERE are a few quick tips, plus a healthy, delicious recipe for sweet potatoes (though I admit Chef Jack’s famous baked sweet potatoes at TELOS’ Caesar’s Café are hard to beat!)

Enhancing Bio-Motor Abilities
There are numerous beneficial adaptations of the human body that can occur in response to exercise and training. Therefore there are an equal number of reasons to exercise and a host of goals to strive for when training. Increasing strength, endurance, speed and power are some of the most common attributes sought when exercising, but there are other Bio-Motor Abilities less known but equally important and are actual prerequisites for developing any of the physical attributes you may be seeking. In fact, whether you are a recreational golfer, touring professional, a fitness enthusiast or a competitive athlete in any sport, there is a definitive hierarchy of needs that must be addressed before other training goals can ever be fully accomplished. When the proper sequencing of training is not followed, performance is always compromised, and worse yet, the athlete or person is also exposed to a higher risk of injury.

Gym Juice…
Ortho-Kinetics Trainer/Therapist, Ryan Overturf and his wife Andrea are expecting thier second child in the Spring. Congratulations Ryan and Andrea.
The daughter of loyal member Jillian Glengarry, Chelsey Sveinsson, a Distance Runner at Greenhill School, was featured once again in the August Issue of Sports Illustrated Magazine.

Chelsey will be attending Standford next Fall.
The Son of loyal member, Tom Hulsey will be deployed to Afghanistan in early November, for a year.

Our wonderful Facilities Director, Wayne Higgins, will only be here on a part time basis starting in November. Wayne has been with us since the beginning and has played a major role in helping with ALL of the major improvements and rennovations we have made. We really appreciate all of his hard work and sure are glad that he will be sticking around on a part time basis!
