I have been a member of TELOS for over 10 years. I was fairly regular at first, but as I began to travel more with my work, I got out of the habit of working out. Traveling also was an excuse to eat unhealthy, and over the course of several years, my weight increased as my fitness level decreased. I was always out of energy.

In the fall of 2009, I became determined to get back into shape. I had this nice health club membership, but needed accountability. I realized the best way to achieve this was to work with a trainer. I began training with Jessica Gore who helped me get back in the habit of working out. Although I was working hard and feeling better, I was still frustrated that the weight just wouldn’t come off.

Jessica encouraged me to meet with Georgia Kostas, the Registered Dietitan at TELOS. I explained to Georgia that I really liked food, and that my travel made difficult to maintain a healthy diet. I was expecting her to restrict me to celery and cottage cheese I suppose, but to my relief, Georgia explained to me how I could still eat out, eat enjoyable foods, and lose weight.

Minor tweaks in my eating habits, when combined with my new work out plan, caused the pounds to start falling off. To date, I have lost 32 pounds, reduced my body fat by 7%. and lost a total of 8 inches. More importantly, I feel great and have more energy than I have had in years.

Good health is now a habit for me. Even when on the road, just about every hotel has some sort of fitness center, and healthy choices are available on most restaurant menus. I look forward to my workouts now. I gain encouragement every time I visit my club, not just from the staff but also my fellow members.
