Too much business travel…

When the club changed ownership and the TELOS team came in, two things caught my attention besides the remodeling:

  •  A focus and purpose was evolving at the club where the staff and trainers seemed seriously focused on changing people’s lifestyle.
  • A personal realization; the fast paced life of business travel and client entertaining had resulted in my loss of discipline around exercise and I had to admit that I was more than a big man, I was overweight.

I had been low carb dieting and exercising which addressed about 15 lbs but I was stuck; not sure exactly what to do I contacted Yvette Quantz to discuss the Nutrition Counseling services. I will tell everyone today that it has been a life changing decision. We started with a basic discussion about eating habits and she asked that I keep a Journal of what I ate, how much and what time. After 2 weeks we reviewed my journal as well as defined my RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) and in her kind gentle way she told me “it’s all a matter of math” in order to lose weight you have to burn more than you eat…she made it sound so simple. In fact as we met she observed that my calorie in- take wasn’t that bad but that I needed to choose better calories. So over the next few months that’s what we did.

To address the increased burn of calories she introduced me to Cecil Hightower who performed an assessment of my current condition then designed a program of exercises to burn calories, improve my posture, strengthen muscle areas that had been long forgotten and introduced me to M.A.T. to help with back strain suffered while overdoing it one weekend. By integrating the Nutritional counseling, the physical training and MAT I have experienced some great results. For those who know me the changes are significant and very positive. I have more energy and am happy to say that I have lost over 50 lbs (still losing) and went from a 44 waist to 38 (and still shrinking).

I would encourage anyone interested in making even small improvements in their workout routine to reach out to one of the staff members but more importantly take advantage of the programs and resources that are available at TELOS. Does anyone know a good tailor?
