High-stress job…Like many in the professional world, my high stress job, long hours, and lack of physical activity was taking its toll on me. I lacked energy and found even activities I enjoy, like playing golf, wakeboarding, or just playing with my kids, left me feeling drained. It seemed like the only time I saw a slight drop in weight was when life’s “Pressure Cooker” was turned up because of an important deadline or stressful project I had to deal with at work… Probably not the healthiest way to lose weight!
Fortunately, my employer, Ryan & Company, understands the importance of exercise in dealing with stress and for years has subsidized gym memberships to all of our employees. I have actually been a member of TELOS since 2002. The only problem with me is I never took advantage of it.
In February, I began a weight training program with Matt Lindenmeyer that involved a posture analysis, strength assessment, and Muscle Activation Therapy (“M.A.T.”) Matt can go on and on with all of the technical jargon about M.A.T. I just refer to it as “Voodoo Magic”. In short order, we had a program in place isolating my weakest areas to gain stability, correct my posture, and achieve optimal muscle m ovement. It was pretty tough at first, and somewhat embarrassing at how weak I really was, but I now feel like I have greater core strength and muscle function. I am not sure my training experience would have been as successful without three key factors that seem prevalent with TELOS trainers: Technical Expertise; Attentiveness; and most of all, Dependability.
It doesn’t stop there! I also had a nutritional consult with Yvette Quantz that has contributed to a total change in my eating habits. I am down about twenty pounds and have noticed a higher level of energy to do the things I enjoy. The “Complete Package” to overall health that TELOS offers rates higher than any other gym I have been associated with. Unfortunately, this program hasn’t seemed to help my short game much!
