Triathlete In Training....I joined TELOS over three years ago primarily to have access to its outdoor, heated swimming pool. With a chlorine allergy, I could no longer swim indoors, but as a triathlete, I needed a place to train year round. While I still think the pool is a great asset to TELOS, I have come to appreciate so many more of the valuable health and fitness services that it offers. The spin room, and in particular the spin classes at lunch, are great for my bike training. On rainy days, or those hot miserable days in August here in Dallas, TELOS has many high-quality treadmills for me to get my run training in. On Saturday mornings, we have family workouts. I take my wife and kids to TELOS with me, and as the kids are having a blast in the childcare playroom, my wife and I can watch it all from the video monitors on the treadmills.
More recently, I have begun to take advantage of the professional training staff to help incorporate a specific resistance-training program along with my overall program. In May of this year, while training for one of my triathlons, I was having problems with tightness in one of my hamstrings, limited range of motion, and some stiffness and pain in my lower back. In one appointment with Personal Trainer, Everett Aaberg, he quickly identified the core problem as alignment issues with my pelvis and spine that were attributed to some major muscular imbalances in my hip. He educated me on the TELOS system he termed “Ortho-Kinetics”, which combines specific soft tissue treatments with some unique training exercises to help realign my body and restore muscular balance. It sounded different than what I had ever tried before, but after my first treatment and training session with him, I had regained more flexibility in my hamstring and more movement in my back than I have had in over a year! Since that time, I have been working with Everett on a tailored overall treatment and training program to facilitate my triathlon training. I am planning to compete in another Olympic tri in October and so far, I feel no hamstring tightness, my training is going great, and my back and core are feeling stronger than ever!
Caesar’s Café is also a great part of the TELOS service offering. The food quality, selection and taste are outstanding! Healthy lunches at the Café have really helped me curb my calorie intake at lunch and improved my overall diet. The staff of the Café is great too. Jack, Bryan, Asia and Hector are all friendly and personable. TELOS has really created a total “health and fitness” culture that is unmatched in the Dallas market, and my family and I enjoy being a part of it.
